Four years of ministry in St. Lucia has a life long lasting memory. I enjoyed my ministry in St. Lucia. And I really experienced what it means to be a missionary in an unknown world. I made every effort to do better with my own limited way. Fr. Joseph Henry and myself worked together in two parishes Choiseul and Saltibus. I took up the responsibility of St. Theresa's Church - Saltibus and helped the Our Lady of Lourdes Church as associate pastor to Fr. Joseph Henry msfs.

At Saltibus: Week day Masses were offered every alternative day. Office hours were regularized, visited all the houses and prayed with the families, caritas was established, paved tiles in the church, repaired all the benches and kneelers, new sanctuary Art, painting, fans, keyboards and sound systems etc, reconstructed the church compound wall, renovated the Parish Hall, new jeep for the parish was purchased. When I took charge of this parish I was given only $ 5000. When I left the parish I had $ 24000.

At Choiseul: Regularly visited the shut-ins and celebrated weekend Masses. I and Fr. Henry enjoyed our ministry.

At the end of the 4th year I asked Archbishop Kelvin E. Felix to give a recommendation letter to Most Rev. James A. Murray Bishop of Kalamazoo. I am presenting here the letter of Archbishop of Castries Kelvin E. Felix dated on 18th March 2005:

Dear Bishop Murray:

Greetings from the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean!

By this letter I wish to recommend to you Rev. Fr. John Peter Ambrose who has worked in this Archdiocese for almost four years. Fr. John Peter is a priest in very good standing and enjoys the full favour of the Archbishop, the clergy and the people of the Archdiocese. He is a serious and hardworking priest whose services have been invaluable during the years that he has spent here and during which I have always received the fullest co-operation from him in every respect.

He served as Assistant Priest in the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, Choiseul and Priest in Charge of the Parish of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus in Saltibus. In that parish, his priestly zeal has brought back many to the practice of the faith. It is a delight to see the manner in which he has decorated and maintained the Church, Parish Centre and Clergy House.

I have always received from him cordial respect and acceptance of all Archdiocesan programmes and projects for his parish. He is truly a dedicated priest and we shall miss him dearly.

I am confident that he will be a great asset to your diocese or to any diocese where he is accepted. I have no hesitation in recommending him for service in your diocese.

Humbly

Yours in Christ

+ Kelvin E. Felix
Archbishop of Castries.
