Minor Seminary: June 1986 I joined in the minor seminary at Pudukkottai . Fr. Joseph Puthiaparambil, Fr. Peter Chakkulickal, and Fr. George Pullat were the formatters. The courses offered: first year language course, second and third year higher secondary course along with the seminary curriculum. At the end of third year, we went to Philip Nagar for the Pre-novitiate program.
A Year of Novitiate: Minor Seminarians from Karalla and Andhra joined us. We were 37. But in the course of time, one by one dropped out and were sent out too. Fr. Thomas Perumalil and Fr. Thomas Pullat were the formatters. Finally 27 of us on June 6th 1990, made our First Religious Profession.
Three Years of Philosophy at Bangalore: After a year of novitiate 27 of us went to Bangalore for philosophy. It’s our own institute (Suvidya College) with a team of Msfs priests, well qualified professors under the leadership of Fr. Matthew Kozhuppakalam the rector of the college. I truly enjoyed my studies and stay in Bangalore for three years. Along with the philosophical studies, we also did Bachelor Degree in Arts at the Mysoor University. May 1993, we said bye to Suvidya College and went to different places for a year of Regency/community experience.
A Year of Regency in Assam: Since North-East province had only two students in our group, Vizag Province and South West Province sent some of us to North East Province. I was one among the four from Vizag Province. My appointment was in Gogamukh Assam with Fr. Joseph Chakkalackal (superior) and Fr. John Karondukadavil. My works here: looking after the Boarding boys and girls, teaching in the school and timely help at the parish. I really enjoyed the company of these two zealous priests. I learned a lot from this period of Regency. I do still remember the sweet memories of Gogamukh.
Four Years of Theology at Eluru (Andrapradesh): After the year of Regency, I was asked to do my Theology at Eluru (AP) in the year 1995. Our province built a new study house in Eluru. It was meant only for Vizag-Province. College of theology and philosophy was run by Capuchin OFM congregation. Three and half years of Theology went on well. Fr. Thomas Anikkala was the Rector of the study house.
Six Months of Deaconate Ministry at Ammapatti (Tamilnadu): After three and half years of Theology, I was appointed at St. Anthony’s church Ammapatti with Fr. Santhiyagu msfs. Pastoral experience in this parish is something remarkable. Both of us could do maximum for the people in every aspect of their life. I took initiatives to start Little Way Association for children and Faith Sharing Groups in this parish. They are still functional.
